Gearins Chapel Baptist Church was organized by Bro. Willie Chadwick on July 23, 1921.  Mr. Early Gearin donated the land on which the first building was erected and was called Gearins Chapel.  The church met in the schoolhouse nearby until the church house was built.  The church put on a play at the schoolhouse to raise money to build the new church building.  In 1953 the church house was relocated to the present location on highway #54 where the present building was built.  The church had a very active Baptist Women’s organization until 1979 when it disbanded.  In 1982 the WMU was reorganized with the help of Fane Cole and it is very active today.  In 1984 the church organized a library which has grown from 50 books to over 500.  There are 26 members listed on the original church charter
